FLUTE GRADE 3	What’s Involved?
Up To 75 Marks For	You are required to play THREE pieces. At least one to be played with an accompaniment, either piano or CD – all books in the core syllabus come with CD backing tracks (each one attracts 25 marks)You can elect to play: all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone) OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice* (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance)
Up To 15 Marks For	TECHNICAL EXERCISE Play either BOILED BEEF and BRONTOSAURUS (pages 21 & 22) or AMOROUS ANCHOVY or ANTS and AVIARY (pages 19 & 20) from Improve Your Scales Grade 1-3 (Flute)
Up To 10 Marks For	MUSICAL UNDERSTANDING Answer questions on any of the performed solos relating to pitch names of notes, note values (crotchet, minim etc.), clef, stave and bar lines, time signature and musical terms and signs (maximum of five questions)
Playing Skills Guide For This Grade	RANGE New notes E♭, E & F above the stave / range of a twelfthIN ADDITION Semiquavers / dotted quaver and semiquaver rhythm / D.S or D.C. al Coda or Fine / repeats / accidentals / crescendo or diminuendo / new keys of B♭ major and A minor / playing with an accompaniment
