ELECTRIC GUITAR GRADE 3	What’s Involved?
Up To 75 Marks For	You are required to play THREE pieces. At least one to be played with a backing track or click track (each one attracts 25 marks): all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone) OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice* (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance) OR you can elect to play two pieces from our listed core syllabus and play four of the standard guitar riffs listed for this grade
Up To 15 Marks For	CHORDS Play any of the following four-fingered chords as requested by the examiner: B7 x21202, Am7 x05555, C♯m xx2120, A♭7 xx1112, G7 xx3343IN ADDITION Play and describe the differences in sound and character between major and minor chords, as well as major and dominant sevenths
Up To 10 Marks For	TUNING Tune a guitar on which two strings will need adjustment – candidates may use any preferred/practised method but should use a familiar digital tuner if opting for this means a maximum of 3 minutes will be permitted
Playing Skills Guide For This Grade	Triplets in crotchets / slides / hammer-ons / 8va (higher) / half bends / vibrato / picking or arpeggios / use of the 15th fret / dropped D tuning
