ACOUSTIC GUITAR GRADE 8	What’s Involved?
Up To 75 Marks For	You are required to play THREE pieces (each one attracts 25 marks) You can elect to play: all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone) OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice* (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance)
Up To 15 Marks For	CHORDS Strum or finger pick three songs of your own choice in the keys of G, D and A major. Each song must contain a minimum of five different chords. A copy of all three pieces should be provided for the examiner. You will be required to play any two pieces a second time as requested by the examiner transposed down a major 3rd. Approximately 1 minute will be given per song for re-writing transposed chord symbols if required. Use of Capo is not permitted
Up To 10 Marks For	Tune a guitar on which all strings will need adjustment. Tuning should be by ear and a reference E will be given – a maximum of 2 minutes will be permitted
Playing Skills Guide For This Grade	Consecutive tenths / change of key and time signature within a piece / harmonics / repeats / D. S. al Coda / Five and Six Four time / syncopation / dynamics and articulation / use of fourteenth fret / ornaments / rubato / compound intervals
