What’s Involved?

Up To 75 Marks For
|
You are required to play THREE pieces (each one attracts 25 marks)You can elect to play:
- all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus
- OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (*please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone)
- OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance)

KEYBOARD HARMONY
KEYBOARD HARMONY
- Using two keys from your chosen pieces play the following chords: I, IV and V7, and also II7, III and VI – using right hand only in root, first and second inversions
- Play four of the following chords as requested by the examiner: E♭, A♭ and D♭ major and C, F and B♭ minor – these should be played in root, first and second inversion, three notes in the right, root in the left

PLAYING A PIECE FROM MEMORY
You can elect play one of your chosen listed or ‘own choice’ piece from memory |
Up To 10 Marks For

MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE
The candidate will be asked five of the following questions:
- Explain 6/8 time and name the appropriate style/drum beat that is used with this time signature.
- What is Transposition? Give two instances when this is required.
- Name two types of Suspensions and explain the difference between each.
- Explain the construction of both Major and Minor difference between each.
- Recognise, name and explain any term, sign or symbol that occur in any of the performed pieces.
- Explain Triplets and Syncopation.

Use Of Digital Piano
|
You need to use five of the listed functions/features of your digital piano
- Dual voice
- Split keyboard
- A minimum of four piano variations
- Use of the sustain pedal
- Use of style or beat (no auto accompaniment)
- Use of synchro start if using a beat
- Use of any other pedal
